World Cafe
In May and June, HCPT conducted a series of World Café events involving group leaders, regional officers, helpers, staff, Trustees and other stakeholders. Around 170 people attended the events in order to ‘have their say’ on the future direction of the Trust. The final report is available to download from this web page and outlines the key outputs from all four events.

The events consisted of a series of three conversations using questions to stimulate debate and discussion about the current and future focus of the Trust. Ideas, insights, views and comments were captured on post-it notes, tablecloths and through the medium of a general discussion (Town Hall Meeting) at the end of each event.

The post-it comments have been analysed qualitatively and grouped into themes, based on similarity of content and statements. The jottings on the table cloths were also considered to form an impression of the conversations that preceded the submission of the post-its. This is supportive rather than primary evidence. It should be noted that assumptions had to be made in this process about the context of some of the quotes.

The Trustees are committed to ensuring that all participants are kept informed about how we will be taking forward all the many issues identified as priorities. Trustees are currently examining the suggestions and feedback in the report and will use these to assist with setting strategic priorities. A "Shared Vision" will be produced of how any highlighted changes can be implemented together with a full schedule of the key targets and objectives with realistic delivery dates in due course. Where possible, Trust members will be requested to lend their specialist knowledge to the future development of these strategies. We want a vision that everyone can relate directly to their own role and that promotes a sense of purpose and pride in our organisation.

We will then review the "Shared Vision", procedures and resources regularly and systematically’. In other words, the events in themselves have just provided the starting blocks for ongoing developments - they are the beginning of the process, not the end.

The Trustees welcome any feedback on the report. All queries can be sent to worldcafe@hcpt.org.uk

The Trustees would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants, staff members, Trustees and the events facilitator for their support throughout this whole process.
