Easter 2010 : Called to Serve

The theme chosen by the Central Service Groups (CSGs) for this year’s mass is "Called to Serve".
It reflects how each one of us, helpers and children, is called, through Jesus' teachings and our Baptism, to serve others. All of us, children and adults, disabled and able-bodied, young and old can be of service to each other in many different ways, so that the Kingdom of God is present and alive on earth.

"Christ has no body now but yours
No hands, no feet on earth but yours..."
(St Teresa of Avila 1515 - 1582)

HCPT 2010 Trust Mass Logo This year's logo illustrates how, in three different ways we become Christ's hands on earth. Firstly, through prayer we bring one another before God. Secondly, we reach out to each other in love, friendship and service. Finally, we help one another in practical ways. All of this is done through the grace and gifts of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to be Christ to each other, and who enables us to use our gifts and talents for the greater glory and service of God.

We are hoping to decorate the outside walls of the Baths (Piscine) so that all pilgrims to Lourdes this year are able to share in our chosen theme of "Called To Serve". We will also provide a leaflet suggesting ways our theme can be incorporated into the group’s visit to the Baths.

As part of our celebrations for the week each group will be given a large hand to decorate and bring to the Trust Mass on Thursday. This will help us focus on how we help and serve each other especially with our hands.

CSG Groups in Lourdes The theme also reflects the way the CSGs serve both the Trust and Hospitalité in a very practical way during the week's pilgrimage to Lourdes. Most pilgrims may be unaware of the service performed by the young people who make up the Central Service Groups.

They are very visible around the Domain wearing red tabards with HCPT emblazoned in yellow across the front. They help with marshalling the large crowds taking part in the processions; they sing with gusto in the choirs; help pilgrims in the baths to wash in the water; lead prayers outside the baths, helping pilgrims prepare before immersing themselves in the water.

Behind the scenes members of CSGs help collate and deliver the Tatler to every group; you will find them entertaining children and family groups at Hosanna House; they will be looking after groups as they travel by Navette to and from Hosanna House. If you need help with evening duties, extra hands one day, someone to lead a sing song or help with music for your liturgies the CSGs are there for you, always at the service of the Trust.
