As the group's nurses are paediatric nurses, we tend to take many children with several additional needs – often life-shortening. The nurses often know and have nursed the children. The sheer joy shown by the children, often with a constant smile, never ceases to be a humbling experience for all the helpers. Parents often tell us of the changes for the better that they witness in the children. One of our severely disabled children learnt to laugh and smile for the first time when in Lourdes.
